As I was looking through all of my apps, it was difficult to pick which one to review first! So, I decided to pick an app that happens to be many of my younger client's favorites! Bert's Bag! Let's take a look!
Name: Bert's Bag
Published By: Sesame Workshop Apps
My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
This is one of my favorite apps because it can be used with children of all developmental levels and with children who are in all different communication stages! The app specifically focuses on number recognition, counting, and following directions, but I use it for so much more!
Bert's bag starts out with Bert showing the view a brown paper bag and sharing that there is something very exciting inside. It then invites the player to open the bag. For the children who are verbal, I have them make the request to open the bag. They can say "open," "open bag," "open bag please," "I want to open bag," or any word combinations. Then the children can slide their finger up the bag to open in. The player then needs to shake the bag for all the items to fall out. While the kids are shaking the bag open, I have them say "shake" and sometimes we even stand up and shake our bodies and get goofy! Once the items fall on the table, I have my client label the item and then we count them together!
I highly recommend this app for working on speech and language development. It works on receptive language, expressive language, and pragmatics! 5 stars from SpeechGal Therapies!
